Our mission is to spread sarcoma awareness, foster positive relationships, and create a supportive community. We strive to improve the quality of life for children and their families undergoing cancer treatment by providing resources to alleviate financial hardships.
Eilyn Marie Maldonado had a major impact on the lives of those who knew her before she passed on at the age of 16 after battling Osteosarcoma for less than a year. Her love of ball started at the age of 5 and lead to her becoming a force on the basketball court.
Her first team was the Waterbury Police Academy League (PAL) and continued through the years playing with Hoops 4 Life, CT Rebound, CT Heat, and Vale. Her final season was her sophomore year at Sacred Heart, followed by her becoming an honorary player at Holy Cross High School.
As she grew, basketball became more than just a game, it was a challenge, an escape, and a joy for Eilyn. Through the wins, losses, and the pain she never stopped smiling when she stepped out onto the court. Through the challenges she encountered, she never stopped pursing her passions, even in the midst of great adversity.
Eilyn was more than just an athlete; she was a fashionista, a social media influencer, an artist, a practical joker, and a mobilizer. She was unique and proved to be multifaceted and powerful in her youth. Her resilience became a testament to the true strength of the human spirit.
Her joy and light were an inspiration to all those she would meet in her short time here on earth. Eilyn was a fearless young girl and will forever be ingrained in the fabric of her peers and family. The Eilyn Strong Project has been organized to preserve her legacy and assist those who need resources and community.
